Birth control might not have worked?

So I just started taking birth control a few months ago in about a week I will be finishing on my sugar pills on my third month. My boyfriend for 5 years had sex with me without using a condom and have finished inside of me. I have been feeling very bloated I gained a couple of pounds since then and have been feeling kinda nauseous. I just wanted to know if it was to soon for him to finish inside me before the pills started working. Please give options!

The birth control starts working after one month so if taken around the same time regularly each day, there's only a 1% chance you could be pregnant. Weight gain is very common with taking birth control and sometimes neusea is a side effect as well, especially when you're on your sugar pill week.

It could easily be the birth control, but if the symptoms you are having are bothering you too much, then you should really take a pregnancy test. Sometimes though it could just be your body getting ready for your period. Everyone's different, but like I said, if it's really starting to bother you, then it couldn't hurt to take one.
