Relationship probs pleaseeee help!

Me and my ex were together 3 years of my 4 yes of college. We graduated May and broke up cause we move 12hrs away from each other. Im in graduate school and he went back home. He says that maybe in the future we could work it out but doesn't want to be together now. He texts me every now and then to tell me he loves and missss me, but hasn't tried to make a trip to see me and I have twice already.  Should I stay in this back and forth till I graduate school in hopes we will work it out? Or just move on?
