Blood test necessary?

I just found out I'm pregnant with my third and a friend is telling me I should get a blood test. I vaguely remember having one with my first two kids but since they are 7 and 5 it's hard for me to remember. Is this really necessary to schedule a seperate appointment for our should I wait for my ob to do this at my first appointment?

They did a whole bunch of blood testing at my first appointment. When you go to the doctor they will tell you what you need to do.

my dr. said no blood for preg test needed, hpt's are so good these days.

Of course u'll get all the hormones & stuff checked at first ob.  While waiting for first ob, I took hpt about once a week... just to make sure I wasn't crazy :)

They didn't take blood until my first ob appointment at 10weeks. They did a bunch of tests an never told me my hcg levels like everyone else seems to find out but I was told everything was normal

I had blood work done immediately when I got my BFP but mostly to reassure myself. It's not necessary.

I didn't have any kind of blood taken until my OB appt at 9 weeks.
