Signs???

So my boyfriend is more reserved and kind of shy. He's super sweet and respectful, and doesn't really make bold advances when it comes to physical contact. So far the farthest we've gotten is making out, but I'm totally comfortable with going further. I know he doesn't have as much dating experience as me so I'm not really sure what he's comfortable with. I feel like even if he wanted to go further, he would wait for me to make the first move. I really want to but its really hard to read his body language! I can't tell if he wants more or not. What are some signs/things I can do to test how far I can go? I know I could probably ask him but I don't want it to be awkward. Any tips?
