Is the dentist a good idea?

I have some fillings needed to be filled soon because they are getting really bad? I'm only about 4 weeks pregnant and I called the dentist to see if I would be fine with getting dental work done and they said it wouldn't harm me or the baby. I tried to get ahold of my doctor but still haven't heard anyone. What am I suppose to do?

Your dentist should always ask for clearance from your dr. Your obgyn should fax over to your dentist. Dental work can be safe but also dangerous because of bacteria?

Ha, I'm 4 weeks and just got out of the dentist. If it's cleaning, any time is fine. But for work like fillings they say keep it to 2nd trimester

The biggest concern at the dentist while pregnant is the x-rays. Generally they only do them once a year(?), so if you've had them done recently you should be fine. Just let your dentist know so they know how to protect you and your baby while you're there. (=

Having a cavity whilst you're pregnant is probably more dangerous as it means that your gums are open to bacteria.

Get them filled before they get worse, or else the first you will know about it will be when it is already infected.
