Remember: this is your day to celebrate with your SO.  I just got married so I know exactly what you're going through.  You're going to have people give their opinions no matter what.  All you can do is say how much you appreciate their opinion, but you're going to do what's best for you and that's it.  Let them know you appreciate them but in the end, the decision will be made based on you and your SO.  It can be tough and so frustrating but you will be so much happier in the end when your wedding plans all come together.

You have to weigh the pros and cons of each.  If you're really torn with which option you and your SO want to do, then figure out what's important to you.  Is it important to you to have all of your family and friends there?  If so, you may want to go with something local so everyone can attend. Is it important to keep your wedding small with only your closest family and friends?  Maybe going away is a good option for you.  For me, personally, I could never go away and get married because I know half of my friends and family wouldn't be able to afford it and it's very important to me to have all my loved ones there.  But that's just my personal opinion.  All three of your options are great and you just have to figure out what works best for you and your SO. Megan... You're right but even if we do go away we're still going to come home and have a reception for the family so all in all I think the smarter decision would be the traditional but everyone and their mama keeps steering me away. Lol
