Is it necessary for your parents to know you're not a virgin ? Under 18

Some parents don't take it well and even restrict their children from being social to avoid them having sex again. Especially the really cultural and religious ones.

I personally think when you're younger it's harder to make the best decisions in regards to sex but the bottom line is its a personal choice and no one else's business. The way my mother brought me up and talked to me about sex (how it was only after marriage, that girls who gave it up were sluts and all that BS) instilled in me REALLY warped and unhealthy beliefs about sex, and it wasn't until I was 23 (and lost my virginity) that I kinda got my head straight, looked at the big picture and came to my own and much healthier conclusions about sex. No, it's not a parent's business, eapecialy if judgment is going to follow the revelation that their daughter isn't a virgin anymore, but I hope someday soon parents are more willing to be open with their kids about sex so their children don't have to be fearful of coming to their parents about these issues.

You shouldn't feel obligated to tell your parents, but hopefully you feel comfortable enough to go them if you have questions or problems.

I voted no but it all depends on how your parents are. Mine would of grounded me for life so I never told them and they still do not know. (I was 15 now I'm 20) but of they are more of the understanding type then yes because you might get into trouble but then you can always talk to them about it if needed.

I was this kid. Honestly, I wish I would have listened to my parents. Of course, sex is a very private thing and anyone should be able to keep it to themselves. My honest opinion is, even after losing my virginity at 16, anyone under the age of 18 shouldn't be having sex. They should be focusing on school and friends, and finding themselves, not finding the person they may or may not spend their life with. I hope no one is offended by my opinion. For one (normally the same sex) to know if they aren't going to ridicule you.  You need all your options open to be safe
