Is it fair to be a stay at home mom?

My fiancé and I are married very soon. We've already been together for 6 years so we plan on having kids right away. However I'm trying to bring up the topic about me being a stay at home mom. I already know I'm going to have a very hard time leaving my baby with someone besides us. I feel 6 weeks is way too young to leave a baby. I want to stay home at least a year, but I feel that it won't be fair to him by putting everything on him, and I don't want him to think I'm just being lazy. Although I'm sure he won't think that but idk. Also I want to save up for. How can I bring it up and when should I start saving for it?

Being a stay at home mom saves your husband from paying expensive child care rates :) depending on your job and how much money u would be making if u got a job. If u were to go out and get a regular minimum wage job, it would not be very benificail for either of you. You would save more money staying home. I'm a stay at home mom of 3 and I love it because I can raise them how I want and always be there for them.

I was a stay at home mommy with my daughter. I was the ine who decided to get a job just to have play money. I worked for six months before i realized i missed my baby girl too much and we had been ttc at the time. So i mentioned staying at homeagain  and my husband said he would much rather me stay home and be with our kids and we are financially fine to do so :)

Also, if u choose to be a stay at home mom, there are things u could still do from home and make a little extra money. I had a home daycare for a little while and kept a small number of  toddlers. If your good at making things u can make stuff and sell it on etsy.com or something like that.

Depending on where you live, it may be cheaper for you to stay at home and only have one income than it would be for 2 incomes but paying for child care. Just talk to him about it and figure out what's best for you family.

To be honest, when my hubby and I start having kids, I wanna be a stay home mum. I don't think I can trust anyone besides hubby and myself looking after my child.

Yes I have family members but they won't treat my babies the way I do. And I don't intended on getting a babysitter, I've seen too many horrible videos online, I watched one today and cried, I couldn't even watch it till the end.

I already have my mind set on being a stay at home mum, I don't see anything wrong with it and I get to spend time with my babies before they grow up and doing their own things.

You aren't putting everything on him, you'll be taking care of your child and home.

Just be open with him and it will be fine.

I'm a stay at home mom and house wife. He brings home the money, and I up and run the house hold, cook, clean, laundry, dishes, and all that good jazz. I have a certification to be a CNA, and I'm going to school to become a nurse. I don't think there's nothing wrong with staying at home if he's okay with it then that's all that matters. We don't struggle and it gives me 1 on 1 time with our son. I do plan on becoming a nurse because that's my life long dream. But now as we are TTC and have a 2 year old, a stay at home mom is what I need to be right now.

I would start saving for it. Also talk with him. Maybe you and him can figure out what works best for your family.

It's not being lazy. It's giving your child your time and attention. In the uk we get 9 months paid leave but are allowed to take a full year from our jobs. It sucks you can only have 6 weeks. I would save like crazy and try to take longer. Think of all the important milestones that happen in that first year. It's worth it to be home and I'm sure your husband would want you home with baby.
