Has anyone else been molested as a child? If so, does it still bother you to this day? Or have an impact on your life still?

Answer

Yes. I was a few times throughout my life by a couple different men the last time when I was 16 by my moms ex husband. I did not always handle it well. I turned to drugs and men who treated me like shit I have been to several therapists and been on several different meds for depression and ptsd. It's always going to be there there's no changing what happened but I chose to not let it define me and I choose to live my life happy and move on from the past if that makes sense. I am now med free happily married to a wonderful man who treats me like a queen.  I still have times where I am sad about it but my life no longer revolves around the pain or anger I once held onto. Mine started when i was 5 i was raped and went on for years on end felt like an eternity i didnt tell anyone bc of fear and bc who the people were i got into a really bad depression i took pills i tried to self harm but it came a point in time where i said to myself enough i wont let these men take control of my life i wont give them that power over me. I still deal with it everyday i try not to think about it but sometimes theres triggers and it shows. Its very difficult to go through alone. Sometimes i sit and wonder y didnt anyone notice y didnt someone save me from all of that hurt those are questions i will never have an answer too just like y did it happen out of everyone y me. Something i have to live with now its changed my whole outlook on life and love im very protective of my nephews im aware of my surroundings all the time i was scared at one point to be sexually active with a partner but that all changed when i met my SO. To all u girls whove been hurt i feel ur pain and we will get through this we are strong get help if u need it and dont let nobody bring u down.

I was molested for years. Yes it still affects me but I try really hard to not let my issues control me honestly I think I'm going to always have problems with it but it's gotten easier threw the years especially after I was able to talk to someone about what happened.

I was but was able to get passed it thanks to some much needed closure from one of the people who did it. They themselves were being molested and we're just acting out what was hurting them. They contacted me 8 years after it happened via MySpace and told me that they had gotten themselves into therapy where they realized what had happened. It helped to receive that apology and the information about how to take back my life in order to have a healthy fu crooning relationship romantic or otherwise.

Once when I was 'developing'.. By a very close family member. I did not turn to drugs, I don't think it affected me with my partner sexually and I try my hardest to turn to my family. I do though suffer really bad nightmares and I have a hard time trusting people and I'm also very protective of my younger sister. My whole family knew and I feel like no one was there to come to my  rescue. Nothing was done about it and that's something that will always hurt me. From that experience I know when it comes to my own children I wouldn't be so blind and naive to the signs.

I was molested when I was about 5 years old by my cousin continuosly for about 4 or 5 days straight up until after Christmas. He got caught only because one night his sister came into the room. Then again in 2nd grade by a guy who I thought was sweet and my more then friend I guess. I never told anyone and just kept it to myself. I was ashamed.
  It does impact me till this day even though I'm 17 now. I don't like to be touched unless I offer a hug or something. I dislike getting in intimate situations because it honestly just freaks me out and makes me crindge and want to go cry in a corner. I also have nightmares every once in a while. I've tried to talk to people mostly my ex's I havent told any of my friends, but I always get the reaction of that it wasnt that bad and I shouldnt have problems because of it, so I just stopped telling it. 
  Somedays I sit and wonder what I would've been like if it never happened.

I was molested by someone who I thought loved me, my boyfriend at the time when I was 14 and he was 16. It’s been very hard letting it go and realizing it’s ok to love again and be sexual with another partner because they aren’t that person. I owe my anxiety and depression to the person who multiple times force fingered me and forced my clothes off and even ripped up clothes.. I will never forgive them. Also my next boyfriend after him forced me into giving him head and pleasing him even in school because he told me “if you love me you’ll do it” I hate having this past and it getting in the way of the best thing that’s ever happened to me, which is my current boyfriend who has never ever made me do something I don’t want to do
