Me
After being a week over my date, and no good signs of anything starting, the doctors decided to schedule an induction for the weekend. They stripped my membranes and sent me home at 3 cm dilated, in hopes I would go by myself. I may have started to the next morning with contractions every 10-20 minutes but we were already there to be induced. Then they moved to 3-5 minutes. Once they started the induction I had contractions every 1-2 minutes for over an hour but wasn't making any progress with contractions. I decided to get an epidural to help relax the contractions and myself. I moved to 5 cm and stayed there for hours before they gave pitocin, the baby was not handling my contractions well so he was being monitored. I was given oxygen for the remainder of the labor to help keep his heart rate up. I finally dilated to 8 cm and then stayed for a while, once I got to 9 they thought I would move to 10 faster so they stopped the pitocin. I didn't progress so we had to start it again. Baby boy was not handling it well so I was made to flip and flop sides to help him. I was finally able to push and pushed for about 5 contractions before the doctor made me stop because the baby was in distress. We made the decision to use forceps ( I was against them before labor) in order to get the baby out. He was too low for a c-section so that was a big last resort. After 6 more pushes with the forceps, our little boy was born. We are so in love. I'm so thankful to have glow help me keep track of my baby's progress in the womb.
