Does getting an IUD hurt? How bad?

A lot of different women have different reactions i guess it depends on your tolerance for pain....when i got the iud it wasn't that bad but my sister said hers was a lot of pain....

I had a kind of crampy pain, but it only hurt a lot for a few seconds, then for a day or so I felt like I was on my period and after that it has been plain sailing for me!

It was put in by a doc (who was experienced but not exactly reassuring), and I had my sister there. She was great, and the doc called a nurse in, and that lady was fabulous! She explained exactly how it would feel and literally having her there to distract me made the pain bearable!

U have cramping wen they put it in and i thought it hurt a bit more than i had liked but personally i wouldnt recommend the iud just out of personal experance. I had it for 6 months b4 having to get it removed only to find out that my body was rejecting it

Not sure sorry I was under a general anesthetic when mine was put in. Didn't hurt to take out though.
