Age Limi on Glow?

Question

Ladies, I am not trying to start a fight and am not looking for nasty comments, I am really just asking a question. Does anyone else feel a little uneasy after either reading a post from a 14 or 15 year old asking about sex or after responding to one? I want to help these young women, but I get an uneasy feeling because I always wonder if I'm helping them commit a crime (underage sex). Do yall think Glow should have a state by state age requirement for sex questions in the forums? It might be a little tough for them to enforce, but I would feel more comfortable if I knew I wasn't helping little miss 14 year old had sex with her 17 year old boyfriend.

I totally understand what you mean it's almost as if we're encouraging underage sex. However realistically they're gonna do it anyway so maybe if they get the right guidance and advice at least they'll a bit more educated about it.

censorship of their questions will only lead them to believe myths, ask their peers, or worse- feel ashamed, more confused and accidentally make horrible choices. remember that sometimes they ask out of sheer curiosity. they are trying to figure it out. schools that teach abstinence only are also not giving them answers to questions about sex. when you stop young teen girls from getting guidance from a community of women, you disenfranchise females everywhere. who better to ask than a community of women? they are going to make a choice. this community could help them make the right one.

I like that they're asking questions to women who can help them out. Maybe they can't talk to anyone else about sex, or they want guidance. I'd rather a 14 year old ask which is the better birth control than to end up pregnant.

I do think there needs to be a way on Glow to set it up where if you are a younger teen, or under 18, where whenever they set up an account their age sends them to different sections of Glow. Like lets say 10-12 year olds have a section and are restricted to that section and 13-17 year olds have their primary section but can choose to see post section where the older women post. I think it would be cool if every user could pick their strong points, and if any user who is under 18 has a personal or private question they can send a private message out and whoever is has listed that topic as a strong point gets the message.

I agree with this 100%. Allow them to post anything they want as long as it is not sex related. I almost feel like a perve reading their posts sometimes.

I think there should be a age limit because I feel like it's the parents responsibility to disguss sex with their children! I would want my child to come to me and talk to me about anything than go to a stranger...JS

I don't think Glow should have an age limit. A majority of girls get their periods as young as twelve years old. They should be able to track their periods, just like the rest of us. After all, the sooner they begin tracking, the better.

As far as age limits go, I wish there was a way to create age ranges for particular groups. For example, someone who wants to create a group for women in their 30's could make their group have an age range of 30-39. I don't know if that's even possible, but I think it would be a nice addition.

Age limits for the entire app though shouldn't happen, and I'm curious to know how they would even enforce it. There are apps where you must me 17 to download it, but it's far too easy to lie.

Glow has commented on these posts before and said that like 90 something % of the posts saying someone is 14/15 is actually from 30 year old women pretending to be younger. They said they do regulate the age limit on here

As much as I hate seeing their mostly stupid posts on here, I lost my virginity at barely 14 and didn't really even understand what I had done so they should still be allowed on here that way they have someone to come and people to talk to when Google misleads them and their parents are too intimidating.

I don't think they should. I think little girls should be able to speak their minds on that kinds of things because most girls lose their virginity at a young age and might have questions. As adults, you should know that most of the time, they are seeking help from you. I agree tho that sometimes they can get a little carried away.

Every parent hopes their child would feel comfortable coming to them with questions. The reality is they don't feel comfortable and many with good reason. Glow is a safe place to ask anonymously things they can't say to mom or dad. That being said, there are some bad people on here as well. If we all make a conscious effort to redirect negative or overtly rude and sexual comments by telling the kid "That's not true, but this is the correct answer" we may be able to spare that kid some confusion and bad experience. Instead of giving curt, blunt, rude replays we could speak to them with the same love and compassion we would hope someone would speak to our own. Guidance does not equal approval.
