Ready to settle?

Question

When I talk to my guy or others talk to us about getting married- my guy always says we 'don't have enough money' is this a cop out? What do you guys think? We could at least be engaged for a year or two?

Some guys don't want to start a marriage making sacrifices because of money. My fiancé  used to tell me we couldn't afford it, even though I knew that he had enough to cover my dream wedding in his savings account. Turns out, he had always dreamed as a kid to give his bride a house for the wedding gift and he wasn't ready to sacrifice that dream because of lacking funds. So really, in your situation, either he's copping out, which is always a possibility; or maybe he just wants to make sure you never regret the choice to forego the wedding celebration. Either way, it sounds like you need more communication, and if he's really worried about the financial burden, maybe talk to him about what needs to happen to make him feel like you can "afford it".

Okay, my advice is based from what you wrote above. If he doesn't want to get married yet because of financial issues, how does being engage make it any better? He will still have to pay tor the engagement ring. Plus, if you guys get engaged, you're going to be so hopeful for the marriage and if he can't afford it? Then more fight and argument will be involved. But hey, if you're American, American culture believes that women are suppose to pay for th wedding, so if you're fine with that then talk to your guy and get married ?

It's so not a cop out! Most weddings are expensive as hell, and if he wants you to have an even half-decent home that takes a lot of saving. Babies are more expensive than buying a very nice home, per kid if you're wanting them... It's a LOT of money. He probably just wants to do things right and give you both a good life.

I think it was you who also posted you wanted him to move out of his parents house but he told you he couldn't afford that either. Maybe you need to just focus on what's right there, you're 33 weeks pregnant and need to focus on what's best for you and your baby. This  guys keeps telling you he can afford to take any other steps forward, move/engagement, maybe either he can't afford it or he doesn't want to. Like I said you need to take care of you and your baby forget focusing on why he can't give you and focus on what you can give you.
