Clearblue Digital Error

Has anyone gotten the error message where it's has the test and the book all the way to the right?  I've gotten an error message similar to this where the book is right next to the test but never where it's been all the way to the right of it. This is the second strip I've used and I don't want to waste anymore. Will the strips work without the digital test?  Is the digital holder broken?
