Second baby?

Question

I want to expand my family. My SO and I have been married 4 years and have an almost 3 year old. He tells me he's not a baby anymore, he says he's a child (made me and my husband laugh). I'm hoping this will help when we have a second child. My son has been on my hip from the minute he was born, and I don't want him to get too jealous, but I also don't want to wait much longer because I want my kids to be close in age. We have been TTC for about a week now, I am just wondering if it is too soon? Has anybody been through this ..?

My daughter is 8yrs old, and we still refer to her as 'the baby' when mentioning her. 
"I'm going to go pick up the baby from school."
Lol. I know she is far from being a baby anymore, but we're still stuck on using that phrase. 
We are currently TTC#2. I know that's a large age gap, but we also didn't think we would want anymore children. I did know that if I ever had another, that I did not want them to be close in age. I felt like having several young children would take away from the attention that they each deserve. Just my opinion, though. So if we are blessed with another baby, there will be at least a 9yr age difference. I didn't really plan on the age gap being THAT significant, but plans change as we grow older.

I think that seems like a pretty good age gap. I got pregnant with my second when my first was 6 months old, so they are 14.5 months apart and both mamas boys. My oldest really didn't show any jealous till recently because he was too young to really get it early on. I think it would have been easier if I waited until he was closer to 3, so I could explain that a baby was coming and prepare him and he'd somewhere get it.

What you do is make a special time for the two of you where you do things that a big boy can do. Something that will be easy enough for the two of you to do together

My son is 3 and a 1/2 and were ttc with #2 I know my son will b a wonderful big brother but part of me does worry how he will react to a lot of my attention on a new baby because my son is such a mamas boy but I think it's a plus having kids closer in age  it will be a change but I bet it will workout great
