Should i just move on

Okay so long story short or as short as I can possibly make it. I've been with a guy but its been long distance for almost 3 years now. The communication factor of the relationship is pretty much zero unless he decides that he needs to talk to me. I can send him messages and have to wait all day for a response. Or almost all day. We did break up a few times throughout this 3 year period but always got back together. I feel like even if he did come back to where I am that it would be hard to reconcile the relationship with it being how its been for so long. I've talked to some of my other female friends about it and my mom and they say I should move on since its been nothing but let downs and broken promises for the last couple of years. Anyways that's pretty much it.
