Has anyone experienced a natural labor/birth at a hospital?

I would like to have a home birth. My husband is very uncomfortable so I figured I would meet him half way and have my natural labor/birth in a hospital. Wondering what your experiences were?

I had an awesome experience with all natural at the hospital. I was induced but I didn't need pit or the epideral, or any pain reliever. All the nurses and doctors were very supportive of my choice. It is painful. I personally loved the labor ball they had. One, it did help with the pain, two, I got to feel like a kid a bit lol. Though I will say, not all nurses and doctors are for the natural route. I don't know why, but they aren't. Stand your ground. Unless it's a medical emergency of course, but do not give in for any other reason.

I did. The trick is to go only when you're in active labor and your contractions are close. Otherwise they may try to quicken the pace or not let you walk around. Have your husband speak up for you and say no if he sees the staff doing something you didn't  want. I had to tell them not to give me pitocin afterward because my bleeding was stopping and I didn't need it. If you're educated about the process, it won't be hard to keep with what you want while in a hospital. :)

You have to really look into what's allowed at your nearby hospitals. Some will let you walk around, eat, drink, whatever you want. The hospital I delivered DD at was not this way. They have protocols, I understand that now. I was not allowed to eat or drink, they did not have tubs, and they were extremely adament about fetal monitoring, so I had to be hooked up every 15 minutes.

A birthing center is a perfect compromise in my opinion.

I'm planning to do this! I have a midwife who will deliver my baby naturally in the hospital. I also wanted a home birth but it's not covered by most insurance. My midwife will let me do whatever is comfortable while I'm in the hospital, like walk around and eat and get in a water bath, plus I will have a doula.

I'm planning a natural birth in a hospital with a midwife (CNM) and a doula. They have jacuzzi tubs that you can get in while you're laboring you just can't give birth in them. Make sure you find a provider who supports your birth plan.

Have a talk with them in advance. Make sure you and they are on the same page about the definition of "natural". Also, have some ideas about what interventions you'd consider and which you want to avoid. It's hard to know how you'll feel in the middle of it.
