Circumcision? To do? Or not to do?

Ondrea • Hello all!! I have 2 daughters from previous relationships. Had a miscarriage last year. Due June 26th hubby's 1st!
Did you circumcise your son? Have you regretted it? I just had a family member tell me a horror story and need some re assurance. If you didn't can you tell me how/if it's effected you and your son? How old is your son?

I did not circumcise my son. I dont find it necessary unless medically necessary. Proper hygiene is key. Keep it clean and teach him to clean it. The way I see it is he was born with it why cut it off because something could happen? I am not a fan of genital mutilation and thats exactly the way I see it. That's my opinion though.

Well you can't put the skin back or let it grow back so it is mutualized. Not to mention that when we cut girls in developing countries its genital mutilation, it's the same for boys

Either way its wrong to cut your kids penis.

There is no medical reason to circumsize a child. I am no going to lop off a piece of my child for aesthetic reasons.

I personally like circumcised penis' better but I refuse to circumcise my son if I have one. I truly believe that it is an unnecessary surgery and its modern day accepted genital mutilation. I understand that some people do it for religion but I still feel like that's not alright. The U.S. is one of the only developed countries that still has most of the men population circumcised. We freak out about little girls getting circumcised in under developed countries but we allow it to happen to our boys?

We had our little man done. Hubby is circumcised and knows too many blokes who have had problems with theirs when they got older! My gp told me she would definately without a doubt have her sons done! And my mates who were nurses also were very pro-circumcision!Oh my gosh I was scared, and felt like I was a horrific mother! I think I was depressed about it the whole week after Id booked the appointment! We arrived and waited, 3 other bubba boys were done before mine! And when he went in he was in for 10monutes and was back in my arms. Oh gosh was he crying! It was absolutely heartbreaking!! Took 10 days for the plastibel to fall off and it all looks great! He's now 12 weeks and a very happy little man!I'm from Australia and was born when the majority of boys were being circumcised. It's definately not as common now but I'm very glad we did it! Looking back though I'll always feel guilty! That cry just killed me!There are things you have to look out for and it's not 100% safe. But if you make sure it's done by someone who does then all the time then problems are rare!!Oh and please don't google it! You will only make yourself feel bad, there are women out there that will absolutely attack you for even considering it!! You are doing what you think is best for your child, and that doesn't make you a bad mum!!

I let my sons father decide. He is uncircumcised. I think most children take after their fathers. Which works well later to not have to explain to your toddler why his and daddy's ding dongs look different

My husband is also uncircumcised. But that was just because his mom didn't have money to do it when he was born. I'm not sure if I want to do it or not. 😕

My son is 8 and it will be his choice His body has started changing and he's more aware of what's going in down there. Last year I bought him new boxers for school. He was excited and wore them that day and the fluff came off. So I used the opportunity to teach him about cleaning it and keep baby wipes in the bathroom for him. He makes a fuss of it in the bath too. I've told him that if it's not kept clean it has to come off but I didn't tell him it wouldn't be the whole thing :)

I did not circumcised my son, he got a uti at 7 weeks old and at 3 months scary ER trips seeing him with wires everywhere but he still managed to have a smile on his face. The doctor NEVER mentioned him having to get circumcised bc of the test results. (ER nurse mentioned to us to get it done and over with that he had the same thing with his son but not everyone is alike) My son is 13 going on 14 months now and he hasn't gotten another uti and he's still not circumcised.

We circumcised. No regrets. Our little boy is 3 no problems ever in that department. I had mixed feelings about it when we were making the decision. But I decided that I didn't own a penis and my husband could be incharge of making this decision.
