How far into a relationship is It appropriate to say "I love you"?

I really want to tell my boyfriend that I love him but I don't know how he'll respond. I really really like him but I can't just say "goodnight I really really like you". Some background info: last time I said I love you to a boyfriend was when we were 13 but even then it was 2 months into our relationship (lasted ~4months). I don't know if I should wait for him to say it first or if I should just speak my mind.. I will comment how long we've been together after I get some much needed input. When I first started talking to my now fiance he said I love you right away and it scared me because we just started talking and he expected me to say it right back. He never pressured me to say it back. But I was the one that would say I like you very much after he said I love you. I felt bad for a while. I told him when I have feelings of love for him I would say those three words he wanted to hear so badly. Honestly if you are head over heels in love and have no doubt about it in your mind go ahead and say it first. At the very least you said it and got it off your chest.

My now husband said it to me after about a week! He said it properly 'I love you' after a month. However I was totally feeling the same at the time! I don't think there is a set time but if it is very early then you need to be careful.. If he doesn't feel the same way it could scare him off x

Me and my bf just said it to each other and it's been almost 3 months. I suggest if you feel it, say it. Don't worry what he'll say or think. Most guys need girls to open their eyes about that.

I'm a believer in "if you feel it, you say it." I've lost a lot of people close to me and regret not saying it more, so I try to make my feelings known.

I said it probably 6 months into my relationship. My boyfriend smiled, kissed me, and didn't say anything. I said it every night for probably 3 months before he said it to me. I was glad he didn't just say it because I did. It meant so much to me when he finally did because I knew he meant it and was finally comfortable enough to say so.

We talked about this the other day actually and we had taken a weekend trip 3 months into our relationship, and I said that was where I knew for sure I loved him. He laughed and said the same thing! We both waited to say it a little while because we've both been hurt so badly in the past but we've worked through these things and I think we're better for it. ☺
