Do you feel it's important to have access to your partners social media profile even if you have no intention of getting on his profile?

I ask because my friend is having a serious issue with his girlfriend. He says he wants her to give the password to her Facebook,not to snoop but to know she's truly comfortable with him having it. I do think he's a bit insecure but I understand his point. She refuses because she says it's a violation of her privacy.

I told him he should respect her privacy but I don't think she should refuse either. If your partner ask, should you give it to them?
