My story
July 2014 I found out I was pregnant with my first. It wasn't a planned pregnancy but myself and my partner were both really happy to become parents, although we were really scared! We were still living with our parents so we had to save money to move into a house of our own. Were only renting but we wanted everything to be perfect when our little one came along. I had my first scan in August and it became more realistic that I was actually carrying our baby! Everything was fine when we had the scan, we saw a healthy heartbeat. I went to my 16 week checkup with the midwife to have more bloods taken, urine sample and to hear the heartbeat... Or so we thought. The midwife couldn't find a heartbeat and I knew straight away something was up. She tried to reassure me saying the placenta could be quite high up so it could be blocking it so sent me for a scan to be sure. When we got there the sonographher confirmed there was no heartbeat :-( I spoke to a doctor straight after and he was going through all the different types of procedures but I opted for medical management as this seemed to be the best choice. It was the worst experience of my life. I was in so much pain which wasn't even worth going through as I wouldn't be having anything at the end of it. I help my little one for a couple of minutes but then it was time to say goodbye. After my first miscarriage myself and my partner decided we both wanted to try again straight away. 3 months later i conceived my second. We were over the moon and couldn't wait to tell everyone so we did within days of finding out. I was only 5 weeks but we had high hopes it would work out. 5 days after getting a BFP I started spotting. I knew this was common in early pregnancy so didn't worry at first. The next day came and I started spotting heavier. I called the EPU and they couldn't fit me I for a scan until the next day. A couple of hours later I started to bleed properly and knew this was it. I called the EPU back as I didn't know what to expect and they said they couldn't do anything until I have a scan but they couldn't bring it forward. A few hours after calling the EPU I was passing clots so definitely knew that was it. I went to the scan the next day and it confirmed I was miscarrying. I'm hoping for some tests for an explanation of why this has happened for a second time. Praying for my rainbow baby soon!
