Is it ok and safe to not use a condom once you're on BC?

My doc is wanting me to be on BC because of my painful periods. But once my bf heard this he said we wont need condoms now. Im not sure what to do, because not having a condom would be wonderful!

BC doesn't protect against STDS. When my fiancé and I were dating we used condoms even when I was on birth control. We only stopped when we got engaged and after we get tested for everything.

I would say if you're successful at taking it on time, you should be fine. HOWEVER, I highly reccomended still wearing condoms during your fertile period. Even though you don't ovulate anything can happen.

Yes and no. I had sex on BC for ten years without a condom and never got pregnant, but make sure you know the person you are sleeping with doesn't have an STD

Yes. I'm on BC and I don't use a condom anymore. Make sure use another form of contraception the first week, then after that you're fine to not use any protection. Just make sure you know you guys statuses ! BC doesn't protect you from STDs !

I think it's perfectly okay. Been on BC for about 9 months now. My SO & I have sex nightly unprotected. No complications.
But I take it at EXACTLY 7pm every night. I've been a few minutes off once. I'm very precise with it which I think contributes.
