Am I over reacting???

I have been with my guy for over a year now and but it has been really rocky recently. He doesn't really have a filter and says something's that are hurtful but then will says sorry cause he realizes what he said. This valentines day is the first time that we are going to spend time together. I have to drive over 100 miles to get there and he is going to pay for the dinner, movie and hotel. I am making him a valentine basket and I asked him if he was getting me anything and he just bluntly refused to get me anything. Which in a sense hurt my feeling and he continued to say something's about how he isn't a valentine person. Am I just over reacting to this?
