Smokers should get extra breaks just because they chose to use a addictive product?

A. Yes, I think smokers should get more breaks. Even though it's their fault they're addicted.
B. Yes, I'm a smoker and I need breaks constantly. Leaving my co workers to do my job.
C. No, it's not their co-workers job to do their jobs for them. If it was they wouldn't have been hired.
D. No. Non-smoking co workers shouldn't have to be exposed where I work

Also, i would love to know why you chose what you did.

E. Smokers should get just as many breaks as non smokers (which, legally, they do) and they should be able to use those breaks to smoke if they'd like to do so.

Ugh. Smokers. :/   I def worked at a place that only gave out smoke breaks. I shit you not. If you didn't smoke cigs you weren't allowed a break. So for my 8 hour shift I got zero breaks while my stinky coworkers got 3 fifteen min breaks!! I started telling my boss I started up smoking just so I could have a snack outside in the sun. Haha.

I'm a non smoker but that doesn't matter. Why should someone get extra breaks? Unless they have a medical reason to take a break. Gotta go check blood sugar or something why should anyone get extra breaks? You are at work to work. You get the amount of breaks your company and or state allow. There shouldn't be special treatment for anyone unless there are really pressing reasons. Smoking is not one of those reasons.

I'm a former smoker and I would never expect or ask for extra breaks to go smoke. In California you are required to get 1 paid 10 minute break every 2 hours worked, and a 30 minute meal break after 4.5 hours. Some employers give you more. Either way, in an 8 hour shift that's 2 paid 10 minute breaks and an unpaid 30 minute break, which to me seems like plenty to get my fix. In 10 minutes I could smoke two if I really felt like it!

My husband is a store manager, think he has a good method. He will allow his staff to have 3 5-minute smoke breaks rather than their 15.

No! That's ridiculous! I was a heavy smoker before I was pregnant and I never received, asked for, or even thought about getting any extra breaks. That's just silly.

Most companies will not give smokers *extra* breaks, I have work at places, where I/we didn't really get an actual break but when their was no customers we would step out the back door for a quick cigarette or to the back for a quick bite.
Most places have set breaks, for everyone regardless of if their smokers or not. Also, most places in the States are non smoking buildings and to smoke you must leave the building and/or go to your car.
