Would you be ok with this?

Question

Would you allow your 18 year old son or daughter to fly with his or her 7 year old sibling to another city by themselves?  No one would be there at the destination to pick them up.  Also there may a hotel room they could check into, depending on hotel policy, until you (as the parent/guardian) arrived which is still up in the air since you are flying standby.

Trusting my kid wouldn't be an issue. But other people pose a risk in my eyes. Guess I shouldn't have watched the movie Taken.

I think it all depends on how mature and responsible the 18 year old it. Technically they are adults. If they are mature enough to actually watch the kid and know to stay out of potential dangers I see no problem but if they are the play all the time or party type probably not

I flew with my 12 year old cousin when I was 15.  The stewardess was very nice and kind of looked after us.  Of course this was before 9 11 and the added rules.  I would say as long as the 18 year old was responsible and the 7 year old will listen to her or him it would be fine.  But you might arrange pick upnto take them to the hotel.

When I was 18 I was aloud to take my younger brothers out of state with me. So if my child is like me and responsible enough to take care of their siblings then yes I would have no problem with it.

My parents would have trusted my 18 year old brother with this situation. I guess it depends on the kids, my brother was pretty mature and I adored him and did whatever he said. He always kept me safe.

I personally would NEVER!!  But my friend moved to Florida and brought her daughter with her. He daughter was 4. She herself would fly back and forth to new York for work and would have her daughter get on a plane by herself at 4. She has done that for 8 years now the little girl lives in Miami with her dad. But the little girl was accompanied by a flight attendant and some one was always there to meet her at the air port

My mother let my sister and I fly to London by ourselves when I was 18 and my sister was 16 so there's a little bit of an age differance there. We checked into the hotel and pretty much just slept off the jet lag until she got there. As a mother myself idk if I would be able to let my daughter fly alone with her little brother/sister. I would seriously stress 😕

The only reason I wouldn't let my 18 year old fly would be if they were mentally challenged. Or if they were going to sneak off partying and leaving the 8 yr old at the hotel. 
Otherwise I would never think this was too young. 18 is old enough to handle things and be able to get everything done that needs to be done.
