Irregular cycles after stopping BC

Around August I had a really long period cycle, 45 days. I decided to go on BC after that but (I'm not in the states and BC is a relatively new concept in this country) I had really bad side effects. I stopped after one package. While taking it my cycle did regulate to 28 days, but since then every month my cycle has gotten increasingly longer. Now I'm at day 39 this month and a little concerned. I know I can go as long as a 46 day cycle but  concerned that it's unhealthy.
