Thoughts on depo shots?

Please give me some advice on depo shots!! I am having to get on my 1st shot that will last 3 months, and I'm alil nervous. My Obgyn said this is the best treatment to keep endometriosis from coming back.

I had the depo for about nine months. I had no period or pain during that time but the side effects were awful. I was depressed and moody and had hot flashes about every five minutes. Also, it took about 4 months for the shots to work themselves out of my system and my doctor actually had to put me on medication to actually have a period again. My doctor wanted to put me on birth control after the series of shots were through and just take the pills straight through so as to not have any periods to prevent endo from returning. However, now that my shots are through I am ready to have a baby so the BC isn't an option. What is the best way for those of us with endo to TTC naturally without the endo becoming ridiculous?

I would look into an alternative like mirena. I have severe endo and I tried depo for 9 months (3 injections), it caused me to be on my period for up to 30 days at a time, I had lost so much blood that I almost needed a transfusion. Also, it caused severe mood swings, weight gain, and depression. I'm not saying this is the outcome for all on depo because our bodies all react differently but make sure you do your research before committing!

The depo made everything so much worse for me. It didn't help my mum either. Most people get a real positive result from it, though. Just try it for 3 months and see if it helps. If not, then no biggie, on to the next method!

The side effects are terrible !! And honestly there are some pretty analyzing alternative treatments such as the valerian root to relax tense muscles and arnica oil for topical use when you have a flare up. Rosemary Gladstar has some amazing herbal treatments for endo !

Oh no! My doctor was talking like after 6 months (March - September) I could get off and try to get pregnant & possible be pregnant by December.

I've been in several OR procedures where we had to retrieve IUDs from the abdomens of women. They can migrate... I personally have been on every BC pill there is. I've also been on Depo Lupron (3.5yrs), 1 round of Depo Provera (I hated it. Severe mood swings & constant spotting), and had an Implanon (3yrs). Out of them all I'd say the Implanon was my favorite. I gained a little weight, but I had no cycle, any breakthrough bleeding was minimal, and I didn't have to make frequent visits to the Dr for refills or a new dose.

As long as you don't wants kids for a long time as it takes up to 3years after shot to get pregnant I really didn't like it but you mite get on really well with it
