Is This Fair ?

So excuse me if i'm wrong i'm not really sure of how this works but if i'm not mistaken, if someone is planning on throwing you a baby shower aren't they supposed to pay for everything? 
Don't get me wrong i'm not stingy and so isn't my husband but his mom is making us a baby shower and i'm not supposed to know about it but my husband did but he didn't ask them to make it for us but he told me he has to pay for the tables and chairs . 
I mean its okay for him to help out but I always thought the person making you the baby shower is supposed to pay for everything ?

If she's paying for everything else; cake, favors, decorations, invitations and food. I don't think it's too much to ask he pitch in for one item. She probably still spending more.

For all the showers I have thrown or helped with we never asked for help with funds, that's part of the responsibility of throwing a shower. If money is tight multiple people usually pitch in. I've offered to help with anything for my baby shower and have been told hell no lol

I've never paid for any "shower" my previous baby shower or my bridal shower. The host(s) typically split the costs...it's ridiculous that she volunteered to host the shower and then expects you guys to pay for it.

People who throw it should be splitting the cost. I think the one person who shouldn't pay for anything is mommy to be.

Maybe tell her another friend is planning on throwing you a shower.  If I had to pay for my own shower I would be the one planning it.

My family is throwing my shower. I currently live 2 hours away so family and friends from all sides are coming together to chip in on decorations, food, gifts and so on. Maybe you could ask your husband if all of your family and friends could do like that and take the strain off any one person??

I think it depends. If money is tight the bills for the shower can be shared
