Parenting styles

I don't have any kids yet, but over the past 20 years, I've babysat for many families and I've worked in day care and a school for over 12 years. I know that I have a tendency to be more "strict" but I want to chill out a little before I have my own kids. I don't want to be overbearing to my kids. I think I'm used to being overprotective because I'm always in charge of someone else's kids. I'm hoping I'll be a little more relaxed with my own children, but I'm not sure how!  I'm always picturing these scenarios of a child getting hurt, so I am strict to avoid the child getting hurt. Plus there are a ton of rules in day cares and schools, so I'm used to having to be strict! How do I relax and quit picturing all these horrible scenarios? I don't want kids to hate me lol
