Kissing....with tongue

Okay so I was with my ex boyfriend for about 5 years off and on. I had sex with other people but there wasn't really any kissing involved. Any who, he (my ex) is the only person that I have truly experimented with in regards to sex including kissing. I have always been insecure about kissing ESPECIALLY with tongue but with my ex, it never really mattered. An k the only one who has this insecurity? I'm mentioning it mainly because I'm dating this new guy and we had our first kiss yesterday and there was about to be some tongue action but I immediately pulled back. I wanted to kiss and make out with him so bad but make a joke about something and we just kept it moving. He was a true gentlemen and I couldn't be any more thankful of how it went thereafter. Any suggestions or anything?
