How soon after birth can you bring baby out?

I hear that after birth, mom and baby should stay home and not go out except for doctor appointments. How soon can you bring the baby out? For grocery shopping, etc?

That's stupid. How do you get home from the hospital then? Lol. I took my son to the grocery store cuz we needed fruit & veggies desperately after I was in the hospital for a week, and we went out the day after I came home.

We were given an 8wk restriction to being around anywhere a lot of people could breathe on her (church, family gatherings etc). Granted, she was 5 weeks early born during the height of RSV and flu season. Hopefully for this one, since it will be summer, we will have more relaxed restrictions.

We took my daughter to an outdoor family party 10 days after she was born and at about 3 weeks out shopping for the first time. We made the trips short but it is nice to get them out, both for you and the baby. This baby is due in July and I fully intend on having her outside soon after she's born (as long as I can take the heat!) Being outdoors has alway helped my 19 month old sleep so well.

I stayed home for one week after my daughter was born, it was January and freezing cold. But she was a hearty baby and we needed groceries! She was fine, just keep anyone sick and germy away 😋

I suggest you don't take them out if it's during flu season or if it's super cold outside.

I waited until 2 month shots, if I had to go to the grocery store I would keep her in her car seat with a car seat cover. I'll be doing the same thing this time around too since I'm due in late fall/early winter. It will be too cold.

My own thing is about 2 weeks, if people want to visit fine but no kids . When I went to hospital tonight they agreed , kids spread stuff so fast to each other and I'm not knocking them I have 3 besides this one to be born but my kids not till after 1st week but I'm kinda lucky they'll be at their dads that week but even if they were home no holding and not too close

Whenever is comfortable for you. I personally started bringing my daughter out the day we got released. But that's just me. I didn't let people hold her till her shots, but I did take her to the store, for walks.

We stayed in about 6 weeks with my first. I had a csection and walking all of Walmart for shopping was out if the question. However I went back to school the next week but I couldn't drive and was on heavy meds for pain.
