Child support and custody?

Could someone tell me how the child support and custody stuff goes in Ohio? My daughter is due in about 3 weeks and I can tell her dad and I are gonna have a fun little battle with this 😒 I would like to know who has custody when she is born and how I could go about getting full custody

Granted my advice is from where I live (Kentucky). If you are unmarried at the time of birth, the state automatically grants the mother full custody of her child. If you wish to go after child support, and are single then paternity needs to be established. Paternity can be established through an Afidavit up to 60 days past birth. It is a document that both parents willingly sign stating that man is the father of the baby and he will then be placed on the birth certificate. If an affidavit is not signed, you can file a paternity case against him in court and they do DNA testing. Once paternity is established, that man has legal rights to his child. You can settle child custody outside of court through mediation, but please know in most states joint custody is usually deemed in the best interest of the child unless one parent is deemed unfit. As for child support, once a man has been established as a father he is legally responsible for its well being. In my state child support is determined by both parents incomes and expenses if the two individuals can not agree on a set amount. I hope this information helped you a little, but in all honesty your best bet is talking to a lawyer.
