Do you go tanning/lay out?

Someone recently commented on my facebook profile picture and said "girl you need some color" and suggested that I go to a tanning bed. It's not even summer yet.. I lay out a few times during the summer, but don't really care too much about being tan. I don't want to look old and wrinkly when I'm older from tanning beds/laying out, or orange from tanning lotions. Are tanning beds really THAT common that she felt the need to say that on facebook?

White is in. Tanning beds and tanning outside are so unsafe...esp if you are fair skinned. I am so white that I'm nearly translucent, lol. I got the comment "you can see the veins in your legs". I also get told how young I look all the time and I know it's from covering my skin all the time with either clothes, sunblock, hats, etc. People who tan think that tanned skin looks best. I say do what you want and forget the rest. If you want color, I vote sunless tanning lotions.

Skin cancer is a big problem in my family among grandparents generation that were farmers and parents generation full of religious tanners.

I'll take pale over melanoma and skin grafts any day.

I wear sunscreen religiously. And I also keep most of my skin covered (I own one pair of shorts, the rest are pants or long capris, and I always have a hoodie on) So I'm always pale. I sunburn really easily though, and every time I get sunburned, it scars and leaves large spots of discolored skin (like giant freckles). I'm just going to be pale forever, and that's okay.

I actually like being pale. I've got a yellow ish skin tone I think. I used to tan so much it was extremely unhealthy. I would go to 3 different tanning salons in one day. I was highly addicted. I haven't tanned in 2 years though (outside or in a bed) I actually really like my natural color now for some reason. Maybe because everyone wants to be tan so bad it's "unique" to be really white? Lol idk! In some countries don't they consider being extremely pale very beautiful?

We just lost my grandma at 67 to melanoma last year. I used to care about being tan but not anymore.

I don't lay out or go to the tanning bed. If I'm outside, I wear sunscreen and sometimes I tan, sometimes I burn, but I don't just lay out with the intent to tan. I just live life and sometimes sun exposure happens lol.
