A Little Education

This thread isn’t meant to start a debate for or against vaccines, but if it does then so be it. This thread also isn’t meant for the “vaccines cause autism/vaccines don’t cause autism debate”, but again if it happens then so be it. This thread is meant to educate, as some people are asking questions like “If you believe vaccines really work, then why does it matter that my kid isn’t vaccinated if yours is?”

1) Vaccines cannot be given until certain ages. A 6 week old baby is too young for most (if not all) vaccines. Some vaccines can’t be given until the baby is over a year old. So, if I’m sitting in the doctor’s office with my 6 week old, and your unvaccinated child is with you, your unvaccinated child can infect and kill my 6 week old. 2) The elderly haven’t had most vaccines, as these vaccines weren’t around when they were babies/young children. If you take your unvaccinated child to visit your grandfather who is 75 and still in great health, your child could infect and kill your grandfather. 3) There are people with things such as cancer, immune deficiencies, allergies, and other things that prevent them from being able to have vaccines, or prevents vaccines from working properly in their system and these people can be of any age. So if you go to the grocery store with your unvaccinated child, your unvaccinated child could infect and kill many ranges of people in the store.

Also, for all those that make statements such as “We got along just fine before there were vaccines”. You are joking, right? Have you never heard of Yellow Fever, Malaria, The Plague, Diphtheria, Polio, Influenza, TB, Small Pox, just to name a few? Those diseases killed hundreds, if not thousands, of people before they were eradicated. They aren’t an issue anymore, because of vaccines.

So please, before you make the uneducated comment of “why does it matter that my kid isn’t vaccinated if yours is?” remember this… If you knew anything about vaccines like you are claiming you do, then you would already know all the above things, regardless if you agree with vaccines or not.
