What's your opinion on psychics/mediums?

MIL swears by them. Apparently two months ago her psychic said that her first grandchild would be a boy born in 2017. OH is now saying that the 2017 bit wasn't said so because we're due on January 2016 she must be correct!

I don't want her saying anything about these readings to me when we tell her on Sunday, nor do I want her telling me about any other readings she has in future about our baby as I don't believe a word of it and it'll wind me up!

It's a load of rubbish.  Don't worry about it and if your MIL is trying to talk to you about it, politely change the subject and if tries again polite tell her it's making you uncomfortable

They are very clever people who can read body language and read into behaviours that you don't even know you're exhibiting. They tell you what you want to hear, and the people who tend to go are emotionally vulnerable and are more likely to buy into the nonsense. If they are telling you stuff that's going to happen in the future, that will influence your choices. I don't believe that anyone can tell the future or speak to the dead etc. There's a magician/illusionist/hypnotist guy in the UK who did a session with a room full of people where he was able to tell them all sorts of things about themselves that he couldn't have known but it is through the powers of suggestion and neurolinguistic programming not through any psychic ability.

Most are frauds. I do believe there are legit psychics though. And can read energy, see past lives, read astrology... Etc

I do believe there are some mediums out there who truly can read things. But it's far and few. Most that you see on a daily basis are fake.
