How to break the news???

I come from a very conservative family. They are firm in their belief that living together before marriage is wrong. I grew up in the church, I'm a Christian, I still go to church every Sunday. My SO and I have been together 3 years now. I've graduated college, started a career, and he's stable in his career. Moving together is the best decision for us right now (for several reasons). However, I still live with my family for the time being and we are close. I'm grown and I shouldn't be worried, but I'm still nervous about telling them that we are moving together soon. We are currently in the process of choosing a home.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any suggestions?

You have to do what is right for you! People are going to talk either way! Do what makes you guys happy! I had the same thing but sometimes you have to forget about others and just think about yall

My family is the same way and I used to be as well. I'm pretty sure my mom cried the first night I spent with my man once I moved in.

But frankly, you never truly know someone until you live with them for at least a year. Two people living together before marriage is fantastic for that reason.

You're an adult and you have free will. So what's best for you. Your family should understand, even if they don't like it.

My grandparents are catholic and uber conservative. My parents are pretty conservative too. I moved back to my hometown from 800+ miles away because of the guy I was dating. I didn't move back until he proposed. I moved in with my parents and he had an apartment. Knowing that we were getting married, a month after I moved back he moved back to his parents and sublet his apartment to save money. We decided three months before our wedding that we should live together. It had been hard to sleep at eachothers parents houses but both our parents were accepting. It was odd.

We found a rent house between both our parents houses and moved in about two and a half months before we married. My grandparents didn't take it the best but considering we were engaged and the wedding was so close, they just went with it. It would have been completely different with our parents and with my grandparents had we not been engaged.  Seven years ago I thought I loved a guy and wanted to move in with him. I caught holy hell from my entire family for even thinking about it. In hindsight, it was a much better decision to not move in because he was not the man I was meant to marry and the relationship turned unhealthy just living next door to each other.

My recommendation from my own experience is don't do it unless there is a ring on your finger and you are eventually planning on marriage. Again, just my two cents.
