Doula or Bradley Method?

Question

My husband and I want a natural birth. We have been planning to use the Bradley method, which my MIL & FIL used and highly recommend. We recently started talking about using a doula as well. We don't know that we can afford both the Bradley birthing classes and a doula though. Which should be priority? Hiring a doula who is familiar with the Bradley method & we can just read the books or taking the Bradley birthing classes and not having a doula?

I will sing the praises of doulas till I die, but if I could only pick a class or doula I'd pick a class every time. People seem to think they can rely on their doula for information (and you can to an extent) but it's not your doula's job to educate you about your choices regarding birth.
We took Bradley classes with our first, I rocked my sons birth, and now I'm a Birth Boot Camp instructor myself.

Hire a doula, hands down the best option. We're trained in so many methods and having the hands on help is definitely beneficial

I loved our birthing classes, and found them super helpful on our journey to a natural birth, my boyfriend is extremely supportive though and will be playing the role that a doula would during birth. If I didn't have him I would totally be hiring a doula though. Maybe a free birth class for some knowledge and hire a doula? Or take the classes and ask him to step up into that role.

Bradley Method hands down IMO. Though a doula is extremely beneficial, nothing can compare to the knowledge and tools you gain as a couple from taking the class. But I'm sure you'll have a great birth regardless of what you choose. Best of luck!
