Do you think vegans can be healthy?
Vegan - plant based diet, no animal products so no meat no fish no dairy no eggs (and no honey for some)
Vegetarian - no meat, no fish
Pescatarian - no meat
Vegan here for health reasons. A few months ago I would have laughed at anyone who told me I'd ever be vegan. A few years ago I thought veganism was extreme and unhealthy. Turns out I was wrong and the more I research it the healthier I've found it to be, the only thing we can't get from a modern vegan diet is B12 because of how our food is dealt with these days. We used to get it from dirt but obviously that doesn't happen as we wash everything so much and the soil has so much fertiliser etc you wouldn't want to touch it.
I'm not here to judge or 'convert' anyone I'm just interested in the figures. I feel like people will only accept the vegan message when they're ready to hear it, it took me 19 years, it takes some 60 years but the health benefits are undeniable - a proper vegan diet has literally been shown to reverse major health conditions like heart disease. If you have an interest in veganism, feel free to research Dr McDougall or Dr Greger.
As for what I personally believe, the vegan diet is super healthy when it's done right. Most people who know someone that got ill with it know someone who did it wrong and didn't research everything properly. As I'm doing it for health reasons (along with environmental and ethical) I've done a lot of research and I feel pretty confident in my diet :)
