Sign of labor?

Question

Just wondering if there was any sign before your water broke or your contractions started? At what point did you know labor was coming on? Beforehand? When your water broke? Share! I keep going into early labor and am on bed rest, at 31wks 2days now. And I'm just wondering if I'll have some sort of warning sign that the real deal is about to happen. Lol

My water didn't break before my labor started. I didn't have any Braxton hicks throughout my pregnancy. The day my labor started I noticed that I was feeling something different going on down there but couldn't pin point what it was since I didn't know what contractions were supposed to feel like. The pain level was 0/10. Around 11 pm I noticed that feeling kept coming back although not in consistent timing. The pain level at that point was about 1 so it was more of a discomfort. I noticed an hour later it was more often but still not consistent timing. The pain level increased to a 2. By 1 am it was still the same story but the pain level increased to a 3. At this point I called the hospital and they told me to come in. By the time I got there around 2-2:30 the contractions were consistently coming and the pain level kept increasing steadily. I was 2 cm dilated (previously 1.5cm from last doctor appt) and they admitted me in. From there the contractions became closer in time and the pain kept increasing. I was 4cm and pain level was 6/10 when I asked for the epidural. By the time the anesthesiologist was able to come and give it to me, I was a 7/10 pain level.
