Won't Sleep in crib/bassinet

Looking for ways to help my 2 month old to be comfortable in his bassinet or crib. Ever since we brought him home he has to be in bed with us at night, or held during nap time. No swings, not rockers either... He always wakes up a few minutes after we put him down no matter where it's at.  I've tried swaddling and putting one of my shirts near him, and nothing's working. I don't believe in letting him "cry it out" so what other options is there?
