Mamaroo... Yay or nay?

Question

Another registry question. I noticed this Mamaroo. It is supposed to mimic a humans sway motion. Thoughts? Good or bad? Thanks.

I was talking with my SIL about it today. She registered for both the Mamaroo and a swing. When she got both, she decided she liked the swing better and returned the Mamaroo. She made the choice after looking at ratings. She was impressed with the swing but.... Her baby is 3.5 months and the swing already has a dead motor and is useless. She loved it in the beginning but felt limited by its uses. Now that she had had more time to think about it and talk to others, she told me she wished she would have kept the Mamaroo. She told me not to register for a swing and only get the Mamaroo. I plan to follow her advice, even if the Mamaroo isn't a long term option.

It was on my early baby wish list, as it is very appealing. However, the turn-off was that it's only good up until the baby is 4-5 months so it seems too pricey for something the baby can only use for a short period and may not even like.

Everyone I know loved it for their baby, with my first I had a classic swing (4 years ago). My cousins baby hated the mama roo and would never sleep or relax in it so she borrowed the swing that my son loved. Now with my second I'm going to try out the mama roo - put it on my registry and if baby girl doesn't like it, I have the back up swing :)

I agree that it's a little pricey for 4-5 months. However I'm also thinking that it will help sooth LO and stop him from crying or being fussy and so  maybe it will be worth it. It's on my registry, if I do get it I will use it for the max amount of time, given my little guy liked it. Then I will either keep it for my next LO, sell it, or pass it down to my SIL who is expecting and a few months behind me. We will see I how it goes I guess ☺️
