My Birth Story-As unmedicated as I could

Kat • Happy mother to first child on 7/7/15.
My whole pregnancy I planned a natural and unmedicated birth. I was induced with Cervadil Monday night at 9pm at 41 weeks as baby already had a mature heartbeat and was looking to be large. At about 3am my water broke, holy hell did it ever. I was at 5cm. At 6am I was at 7cm and the contractions had already become really strong, at 7 they started Pitocin because there was no change. The contractions became unspeakably painful. Every time they checked I was still at 7cm. I finally broke down and asked for the analgesic, I absolutely did not want an epidural. I just needed a little help from the pain so labor could progress. That lasted about 10 minutes and every horrendous contraction made me want to push. They checked dilation a few times because of this and every time we were still at 7 cm. finally at 10 my doctor came to discuss that a c-section might be inevitable and by this point I had discussed it with my husband and BFF about how I needed my baby to be out and safe regardless of my birth plan. My doctor checked my cervix and said, "you're ready to push!" I started pushing immediately. It was hard to do, not painful, just hard because of all the pain and exhaustion of the last 13 hours.  At 10:53 my sweet little man was born. Let me just say, the most surreal experience ever!
