Worrying period colour

Hey ladies, I was wondering if any of you lovelies could help me. I started my period today and it looks a strange thick brown goo colour, normally my periods are bright red so I am a bit worried and confused. Please comment if you know what is wrong or if I am just paranoid xxx thanks in advance
