Birth control weird period

Have been on birth control (vestura) for 8 months. Last period 7/11-7/15 (on time as expected) bleeding was EXTREMELY light clots brown in color. Fiancé and I are sexually active unprotected but he NEVER gets anywhere close to going inside me (always pulls out before and goes on back because I am super paranoid) so I doubt I'm pregnant. (Haven't tested) However, I've been cramping on and off the last week... And wasn't sure if that would be something to do with the irregular period and whatnot...
