Sleeping arrangements for newborn

FTM and trying to decide where baby should sleep! My husband's job keeps him away for two weeks at a time so I will kind of be a single mom half of the time. I liked the look of the Halo Bassinet, but it is so expensive! What has worked best for all of you? I think I can get away with a pack and play with bassinet when hubs is home and maybe a bassinet of sorts on the bed with me when he is gone. Would it be better to not change where the babe will be sleeping? Any advice would be appreciated!
