Cervical position

So for you ladies who check your cervical position where is it supposed to be a day before your period starts? I have read that it is supposed to be low and firm slightly open but mine in high and soft and closed just wondering what this could mean.. or if it mean anything..this is all new to me so any help would be appreciated.
