Anyone else just find this sad to read?

I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that it IS taboo for parents to say anything really negative about parenthood (and even for women to say anything negative about pregnancy).

I wonder if we were more open about our struggles as pregnant women, expectant partners, and parents, if expectations for parenthood (and therefor overall happiness with the experience) would change.

If we actually discussed the negative aspects of being parents rather than sugarcoating it, would people have a more realistic view of what it means to be a parent?

Nothing surprising, nothing new.

Culturally speaking, we're pushed to believe children are a major life goal and children are what your world revolves around after they're born. We aren't exposed much to the gravity of the situation by our parents because they are pressured not to say anything that might imply that having you had any negative impact on thier lives. Then other sourses, like schools, don't find it their place to step in much. Hence a endless cycle.

My. Happiness. Disappeared. 
No support network,  no help. No village.
Low milk production, low weight baby who, turns out, is allergic to animal milk. It was only near 10 months we started soy formula supplements (he would vomited regular formula) and baby foods that he gained any weight to speak of.
I was depressed. Isolated.  And depleted in just about every sense. 
It seems that if communities/tribes still existed, and you could find help when you needed it, then the happiness factor would remain somewhat level.
Now,
 That my ds and I are older, I can appreciate the journey and cherish him.

We have our good and bad days just like everyone else but my daughter makes my heart and life whole.  Im happy! I feel people who are not prepared or know what it takes has the hardest time. Or thinking they run time and not their kids.

No. I think it's true. Especially for first time parents not knowing what they're getting into. I mean the pressure of having a whole, tiny, vulnerable person's life in your hands is crushing. You're constantly wondering if you're doing stuff right, if you're hurting them, trying to decide their tears, things hardly ever go the way you planned. It's just a hell of a lot.

That said, I wouldn't give her up for the world. Those little moments totally worth it...

I love being a mum, it truely is the most rewarding thing I'll do with my life
But!!! the first 6months (for me) was very hard, and actually didn't feel a real connection with my baby till 3months, which i got depressed over because your 'meant' to feel an instant connection with your baby right?? 
You can never be prepared for what a newborn brings until they are here, 
I wouldn't change a single second of it. But reality is some mothers struggle badly, yet feel scared to seek help in fear of being judged or being a bad mum 
It really isn't all beautiful and glowing like the movies say, and I feel as soon as women start opening up and being honest about their struggles the more normal new mothers will feel if they have a hard time adjusting,

I have yet to have a baby so I will let you know how it goes. While I do not question that parenting is difficult, at times, I really have my doubts about it being worse than unemployment and divorce. I think that is a bit of an overstatement. If I had the option to be a parent, get a divorce, or lose my job next year I think we all know what we would pick.

I haven't had my son yet, but I can tell you I've wanted him since I was like 8 years old. I dream about him all the time, think about him while I'm awake, and I constantly anticipate his arrival. Some people actually really, really enjoy being parents. I think I'm going to be one of those people. My step-mom has 5 kids and she wants more but can't have more unfortunately. Some people are just like that, just like some people don't like being parents. It goes both ways. I don't know that I can agree with the whole "it's worse than the death of a partner" thing, but like I said I haven't had my son yet so I guess we'll see.

I've read this and they must be talking about stress. Parenting may have more stress points than the death of a spouse but I wouldn't say it's worse.

Anyone else just find this sad to read?
