When do I start showing him the rings I like?

Question

I'm 21 and have been with my boyfriend since fall 2012. He's 26.

He wants to propose this upcoming spring (probably March-June 2016) but I don't want to show him rings too close to Christmas, Valentine's Day, or my birthday (March).

I'm kind of particular about the ring. I want it to be an Old European Cut moissanite and vintage style.

When should I start talking about rings?

Edit: in December he told me to start sending rings! Proposal will be probably May-July this year.

I wanted my husband to pick it out himself. Normally I had given him the store, a picture of what I wanted and the price including tax. That was HIS idea.. not mine..lol... but for the ring he was going to ask me to marry him with, I wanted HIM to pick it out, with no input from me, I wanted HIM to do it.
The ring he got me is perfect. He told me thag he spent 3hrs looking at different rings and kept coming back to the one he got. He said that he liked it and knew, because I am an emotional moron and sentimental, that I would love it as well. 
It meant so much more to me, personally, that he took it upon himself to first, decide to ask me to marry him and second, to pick it out all by himself. I had no idea he was actually going to ask me... it was wonderful.

We were driving by Jared one day and I joked around and said, want to go check out some diamonds? (we knew we'd get married someday but weren't actively planning it) he swerved right into the parking lot and we did. Lol. He said later he didnt know what styles to get and was so relieved I said that. We didnt end up getting a ring from Jared, he did from a private jeweler, but we learned all about diamonds and I showed him the styles I liked.

My DHs proposal and ring were a complete surprise. Honestly, I wasn't the biggest fan of the ring itself at first. I'm a simple girl, I just wanted a small solitare. The one he chose had diamonds all down the sides and was bigger than what I would have chosen. That being said I wouldn't trade it for anything now. I grew to love it very quickly,  and I cherish the fact that he picked it just for me.

I'd save a few styles that are similar and then send them over now. If he's told you his plans then it won't seem odd at all.

Just try to keep the styles consistant so its easy for him to see similarities.

My boyfriend says that when he's thinking of proposing he'll casually walk past jewellers and ask which ones I like haha I told him I have Pinterest with a wedding board which has the rings I like and I told him to make sure he looks at them!

Have you already decided to chose the ring together? If you have not agreed to choose it together, be careful not to hurt your fiancé's feelings. Remember that is is a gift from him to you :)

My husband and I chose our wedding bands together, but the engagement ring was his surprise gift to me. He just paid attention to my taste in jewelry and his own ideas. It was better than I could have imagined because when I saw the ring he chose it was clear to me that he understood my heart and personality. I cried.

Send him a pic of ring you'd live via email and say someone like "do you like this ring?? ;)" or "I LOVE this ring babe! ;)".  I think it's kind flirtatious and cute :).

I sent my now Husband pictures of ones I liked after he told me he wants to marry me. Like not the "I can see my future with you" but the "how would you feel if OUR child ...." sent him 5-7 pictures in total. Little did I know. He already bought my ring and was waiting to get it back from being sized. Haha. I felt like an ass cause the ones I sent him are nothing like the one he got me. But I like his better :)
