Relationship & children

I am with a recently new partner who I have known for 7 years, my partner has 2 children but does not see them due to no choice of his own. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced being with someone who has children and did it affect your relationship in any way I have nothing agenst him having children & I have also met them we always speak about his children which also makes me feel more comfortable
