Husband not that engaged in the pregnancy?

My husband says he is excited
And has occasionally felt my belly or talked to it but I'm pretty bummed he doesn't seem helpful/interested with planning, taking pictures or looking at baby articles. Is it just me being sensitive or should I say something? I'm 35 weeks already so I'm wishing I asked this a while ago...

"A man becomes a father when he holds his child for the first time." I hated that advice and I heard it a few times before my first daughter was born. He was at every appt, but clothes shopping, article reading, no-go. I would update him because I was excited, but he wouldn't initiate much.

All him what's going through his head as the birth approaches. Many men are really anxious about anything happening but don't verbalize it. Keep doing status checks with each other star the baby too so you all feel connected and keep the lines of communication open as you tread into unfamiliar waters.

Usualy men don't do 'nesting'! They aren't realy interested in buying Baby clothes or toys..... They are just MEN. Usualy they're helpful with painting nursery, or something else. Please don't stress about it. It's one of the great differences between woman and men. Wait until Baby will be born - than he can touch his child and see it - than it'll be more 'real' for him. If you like to go shopping accompanied: take a femal friend with you 😉

You're all being very stereotypical? Just because some men are like that doesn't mean they all are and I feel that if the mumma who asked this question felt her man was like that about everything she probably wouldn't be too worried if he was like that about this as well?

My SO is the opposite of what you are saying, he loves reading the articles with me, going baby shopping, etc, this morning we were sitting down eating breakfast and he asked me "how big are they going to be next week?" (Talking about when the apps compare your baby's gestational ages average weight, length, etc to object, usually foods {we're having twins}) he's just as excited as I am..

I echo others in that it's common and nothing to extrapolate from that those not carrying the baby are less attached in pregnancy. He will attach when he can see and interact with her/him. :)

That said, he IS presumably attached to you! If you feel like you lack support, of course you can let him know. Spend a little time thinking about what feels missing for you or whether your share of the front-work feels overwhelming. He can't read your mind, so help him help you. Best wishes!

I feel exactly the same way. He is the same and I thought since it's his first child it would be different. I think it's just a man thing. They can't feel connected because nothing is changing for them until baby comes. I can't wait to see him with his daughter and the changes that will happen then

He will come around once the baby is here and he can hold him/her. My husband doesn't like feeling the baby move (it weirdos him out) but he is the most involved loving father to our daughter and I'm sure e will be the same when our son arrives.

If it's his first mine was like this too. The saying is a mother becomes a mother when she finds out she's pregnant, a father becomes a father the first time he sees his child

My boyfriend doesn't seem interested at all, he doesn't come chopping, doesn't look at books or magazines with me, doesn't really talk about what's happening, hasn't been too any appointments and I can't get used it it! It's driving me insane when I talk to him about it he just says it's not here yet :( don't worry your not alone x

I have the most amazing husband in the world, but he has really nothing to do with baby prep. I'm on top of it so he doesn't need to be. I think I felt like you with our first but now I'm perfectly ok with it. He does a million billion things for me, let's me be a stay at home mom, and takes such good care of our other children. So what If he's not into baby clothes or whatever. They just show it in their own way.
